Paradox continue the series ““sculture”” with a group of works hanged on the wall. The two projects investigate the relationship between sculpture and painting through the use of a single material: terracotta. Clays of different colors are juxtaposed through an “in-conformal” pottery practice, an intermediate technique that plays at times with the flatness of the neriage and makes marbling intervene as a volumetric device. The sculptures look at first like innocuous monochrome cakes, violated before firing by forceful splits. The passage in the kiln completes the emptying and splitting, opening the volumes to a two-dimensional essence and a pictorial surface, triggering a shift of identity. The works stand out for the designs and colors they enclose, and for their shapes and volumes at the same time.
