A new group of work from the series Substrates (2022 - Ongoing)
Composed of dehydrated organic material, Substrates is a group of artworks that draws inspiration from the essential volumes of minimalism, projecting them ideally into a post-human dimension of nature reclaiming spaces and materials. The essential monoliths of the 1960s are here corrupted by the growth of mycelium and fungi, which chromatically, formally, and in the composition of the material that constitutes them, modify them. Fungi have always played a fundamental role in ecosystem transformation, converting inorganic matter into organic material, living symbiotically with other life forms, and acting as connectors among plants. In these artworks, their process of continuous transformation is crystallized at a specific moment through dehydration. They represent an attempt at a visual exploration of the processes that constantly occur in nature, hidden from the human gaze, underground, or of which we only perceive a small part—the fruiting body.
